Best places to find HF roles?

Looking to break into HF roles in the US. I worked in Europe in a HF but have no network in the US and had to come back. Any recommended head hunters or sites with postings? I find it extremely difficult to be considered without a willing local network even though I had a large book and am qualified. HR seems to look for Ivy League only, but in my experience it’s been the hungry street kids like myself that were the best Pm/traders.

All the people I've seen move from Europe to US are either:

  • PMs/ senior analysts running a sleeve who cover US equities/credit
  • Junior analysts joining a new team

You haven't given much info- but if you did run a book as a trader, then it's a hard sell to anyone in the US if your experience is solely European products- esp if you're looking to join an MM. Much easier if you did cover US names or are on the research side imo. Like you said, network is pretty key, and you'd want a solid reference before interview.
