Bill Ackman fund up 25% to begin year

Saw the headline today that Ackman's fund is up ~25% into the year. He said it was based around 4 plays, SBUX, CMG, Fannie and Freddie.

I guess this is good; I mean, if people strictly invested for 6 weeks increments. He has also taken substantial loses in the past, so I know he's looking for positive news.

"F1ghtingbrick" Dude was also up in 2018 then blew it all in December so let’s wait and see on this one

True, though it's not in Pershing Square's nature to trade in and out of things. His awful December really just seemed a factor of market correlation stemming from the fund's long bias. Plus, they still finished the year ~5% above the S&P. They didn't end the year beating the benchmark by as much as they were in H1, but I reckon with how concentrated their positions are it could've been a lot worse.
