Biotech HF seat + advanced degree

Question for all the biotech guys out there. I’m currently in a biotech ER role. My goal is to go to the Buyside, but debating on if I should go finish my medical degree first.

Background: I have been in biotech ER for 1 year now and prior to that I was in med school (left after two years to do this). I’ve been told that I should finish my MD and come back to ER by some. Others have said to stay in the seat I’m in because it’s so difficult to get anyway.

Any thoughts?

I think gaining more experience in the seat you are in now will be more valuable than finishing the MD degree.  The way I see it...in 2 years you will still have to come back to SS out of school before transitioning to BS.  I believe those 2 years are better spent in a professional, research role than in school and potentially allow you to make the transition faster than you would otherwise.

I completely agree from the standpoint of what’s going to make me better at investing in public equities. 2 years of rotations isn’t going to make me any better at biotech public equities.

I should’ve clarified. I meant from a vanity perspective (something I really don’t care about given I didn’t finish the MD). Have a few people in my ears saying this will make me more marketable to funds? Is this fact or fiction? Obviously there’s increased marketability with an MD, but does lacking one prevent me from Buyside opps at certain places? If so, which places?

Also I come from a non target (if that matters).

what the fuck. I was goyslopped out of entering medicine and then lateraling into VC. I see 'da goyim knowwwww' moderator team saw my comments about how the VCs in Silicone Vaelley, NYC, etc, who I spoke to (and some, with whom I maintain contact) all push for undergrad degrees in 'muh b'dness studies' [sic]....and yet each and every one of them solely hire Engineers, PhDDDDDDD and MDs. I. GOT SHAFTED. DA BOYIM [DIDN'T] KNOWWWWW

f....fuck,man...
