Brevan Howard NY

Just wondering how Brevan Howard is viewed today in NY/US in general? Saw they opened up operations in NY a few years ago but can't seem to find much on how active they are here and if it is viewed as a top fund in the us, know it certainly is in europe. Any insight on office size/culture/breaking in would be much appreciated.

Its a great firm if you're OK with their risk structure. Good resources, smart people, solid payouts. NY office is (I believe) ~15 pm's, so not that big. "Breaking in" is via headhunters or internal referral. At least in macro, they really only hire experienced PM's, unless one of the PM's is looking for an analyst directly to work under him, which is rare. If you're not a trader with an established track record, odds are slim of breaking in here, and even if you could, it would probably not be the best place to grow one's career. But top-tier macro fund for sure.

Untrue. Some of my colleagues and friends have turned their offers based on locations other than London and Geneva. Their risk structure is extremely tough to keep up with your P&L targets - something these people were ok with but still decided to decline. Look up their other locations and people will have second thoughts. Too much hassle to move away from cozy London, Geneva and now New York.
