Call with a Hedge Fund Partner

Hey guys,

Last week I got in touch with a Partner at a company (On Linkedin) but I did not pay much attention to it. I was looking for people that had worked in FIG for a bank since I applied to that bank a few days ago and was looking for someone that had been there to shed some light. The person fit my criteria so I sent a connect request along with a short message.

Today I saw that the connection request had been accepted. The person in question also replied to my message saying that I can call tomorrow in the morning since there is "nothing" in their calendar.

I did a bit more digging about the company and to my surprise, is a Hedge Fund that invests in the FinTech sector, successful if we look at their return since inception and they have won a few "prizes" by BarclayHedge, Eurekahedge and Prequin.

I am now hesitant since I was not looking forward to getting a reply, max. an accepted connection request. I do not know how the call is going to go or what can I talk about since I now have in my mind that I would be speaking with a partner at a Hedge Fund, not just a partner at a "company name" they put in their Linkedin profile. I am currently interning at a company in the Telecommunications sector so it is not even close to FinTech or FIG. I was thinking about asking normal questions about FIG etc but in revelations of this new information, how should I tackle the call? Should I tried to "impress" with my questions? take it easy? talk as if I was speaking to a friend? I know I am not going to be offered a job as a HF Analyst but **first impressions **last and I do not want to ruin it even if it is just a friendly call.

Any advice is welcomed.

Thanks
