Call with HF Analyst
I cold emailed the CIO of a smaller hedge fund about an internship. He forwarded my email to an analyst, who told me they don’t currently have an internship program but still wants to set up a call and keep my information on file in case that changes.
How should I interpret this? Is it most likely just a networking call, or could they be evaluating me for a potential informal/off-cycle internship if there’s a fit? Also, should I expect the call to be mostly behavioral, or should I prepare for technicals and questions about my investment pitch?
Is there a way you can make it in person? Happen to be in the same city the day of the call? It’s much easier to make things happen when you’re in person.
I think if you impress enough in the coffee (good takes, high energy/enthusiasm) then you could get them to intro you to someone else on the team who’d be more open to saying yes, or get an intro to another fund.
