Career Paths For Successful Quants

I was wondering what the typical path is for highly successful quants (ones that are making upper 6 figures/into the millions). Obviously, I understand that everyone is different but I'm just looking for a general overview of the following:

College/Major - Target schools are probably a given as well as CS, Math, etc. for majors

Further Education - I've seen that Masters and PhDs are pretty common for quants (probably even more so for highly successful ones), but any examples of undergrads in quant trading are welcome

Jobs before Quant Trading - Is it common to go into IB/other related fields or is it common to find quants straight out of school? Moreover, a real-life example career path would be appreciated

Lastly, what type of technical/soft skills are required to be a successful quant? Obviously, the CS stuff for algorithms is a given, but what types of people usually make it to the top in quant trading?

Thanks for answering and any additional information is always welcome
