Corp Finance to Hedge Fund MO

Hello all, this is my first post but I have been reading WSO for about a year now. I realized a bit late I wanted to be in the hedge fund / equity research space. Long story short, I currently work at a fortune 10 company in treasury(financial leadership program) and have the opportunity to move into a similar position at a large hedge fund. I am going through the CFA now but am only on level 2. Could a role in the Middle office at a hedge fund translate to the front office with the help of cfa/strong performance. Also, what is pay/life stlye like in the middle office at a hedge fund?

Does anyone have any similar experience trying to break in?
