DE Shaw Fundamentals SA Invitation to Apply Email

I'm a student in junior year right now, at a semi-target. Recently got this email from D.E. Shaw which went along the lines of:

"[Recruiter intro]. I’m reaching out to a select group of students like you with impressive academic and extracurricular accomplishments, and I encourage you to apply for our fundamental research analyst internship taking place in New York City from June to August 2023."

Also when I applied, I noticed "Sourcing Project\FRAI Intern 2022-23" in the "How did you hear about us?" section.

I'm really interested in D. E. Shaw because of the work and environment (really matches my own values when it comes to work), and went to some of their recruiter events.

I'm curious if this email has any weight. I'm at a semi-target and honestly my GPA is kind of mediocre partly due to hard STEM classes (I'm double major in Software Eng. and Business, and SWE classes drag my GPA down). I really want to move into the finance/investing space for sure. How much weight does this email have? I know D.E. Shaw often takes mostly HYPSM, so I don't want to keep my hopes up if they are misplaced. Thanks for any info.
