I trade them occasionally, when/if the mood comes upon me. Why didn't you just suggest something simple like buying calls/puts to express a simple macro view (rates going down/up)? Using that as a starting point, you could get increasingly sophisticated and do things like conditional steepeners/flatteners, yada-yada. Basically, sky's the limit, really...
