Evaluating a Fund

How does one go about evaluating a hedge fund as a potential place of employment? How do you ask the right questions to evaluate values, fit, etc.?

What quantitative metrics are useful? Is it important that a fund be at a certain level of AUM to be able to make certain trades, say?
