Explain like im 5 years old - how does IB work translate into a HF exit opp?
I'm not sure how any of the skills I'm developing in IB would translate into an opportunity at a HF. My initial guesses are coverage groups would have (maybe) industry specific knowledge and also the ability to read financial statements.
I've googled this and looked through the forum and haven't seen any solid info regarding this.
you’ll work a lot, you’re probably not dumb, you can weasel around in excel and you have some surface level understanding of financial analysis and business strategy.
Thanks man, I guess prep has far more to do with personal prep than transferable hard skills it seems
Yeah, which is why I'm a bit skeptical about IB as the place to start after graduation
Has everything to do with work ethic, attention to detail, excel capabilities and ability to learn.
Nothing to do do with any “knowledge” of investing / companies / industries / etc.
Understood thanks. The whole HF world is something I’m not at all familiar with.
Excel, ppt, some brand name.
