Anyone know how people usually recruit at this firm? Is it through headhunters or what is their process like?

Headhunters. Dynamics is doing a search for Farallon right now actually I think. A couple other places like OSI also have done recruiting for them in the past. No idea on process but it's a distressed/event-driven type place, and they usually like taking people straight from banking and no buyside experience (want tabula rasa people without "bad investing habits" from other shops).

How do they compare to other single manager hedge funds out there? Obviously the peers are few in number since event-driven/distressed is a bit more niche field.
Do they ever take straight out of undergrad or is this a post-banking stint?
They're not that big in distressed, mostly do performing or stressed names on credit side or "safer distressed". Otherwise vast majority of their AUM is value equities.
how is performance, comp, culture like? is this the exit, promotion system, and where might people at farallon typical exit to?
