Getting in Front of Funds

Hi - looking for some advice from the community.

I have an off the run background (Foreign non-target, 2Yrs BB research, 4Yrs at a small cross-cap fund with some founder pedigree doing stressed/distressed/equities that blew up, had to take some time off due to serious health issues).

I've emailed with all the main recruiters previously, but I find the following occurs:

A. I don't get all the looks on opportunities (I ask friends to fwd me all opportunities they get pinged for and recruiters definitely aren't showing me all the credit opportunities)

B. Will submit my resume via recruiter for an opportunity and don't hear back at all

Given my background in stressed/distressed, I would've thought I'd be getting more looks but I haven't heard much.

Is there any advice on how to bypass the recruiter system and get in front of funds? How do I figure out who is looking?

Thanks in advance.
