Give me the hard truth

I am currently going into my sophomore year into University of Miami (Finance). I was lucky enough to land an internship in a very small local fund but with extremely smart managers. They have taught me a lot of things that I probably would have never learned in any BB. I am now trying to land an internship for 2022 in a big bank or firm mostly for resume purposes, although I'm genuinely interested in seeing how they work. My goal is to work at a hedgefund but I do not mind going thru different institutions before. What should I expect with my current background? Any recommendations?

Definitely possible. The fact that you're already planning ahead and have a relevant internship under your belt means you're well in the running. Unless you're diversity and/or from a top target then it will be very hard to land a substantial role at a BB for your sophomore summer. If you want HF out of undergrad, having a relevant HF/ER internship for your sophomore summer then another HF/ER summer internship or top IB internship for your junior summer will set you up the best. 2 additional pointers: have 3 stocks you know like the back of your hand (one long, one short, and one short-term) and network as hard as possible (1-3 calls a week throughout the school year). Best of luck.
