Got a MM offer 3 months into IB
I got a MM offer 3 months into my IB BB job. I wanted to do PE -> HF but not sure if I should accept. I think I’d like the short term nature of MMs but should I leave IB before fully ramping up? It’s a sector I like and the pm seems invested in junior development

Honestly seem like a pretty risk on move. Could work out but if it doesn't could derail things.
Assuming you have a good school and are at a good bank, which I imagine you are, opportunities will continue to present themselves. From my understanding, MM shops are super volatile and I think 3 months of IB doesn't give you much of a fall back if things don't work out. Leaving for a more stable HF or PE would be different. I don't think there is a right and wrong answer, its personal, but I wouldn't make a snap decision.
I went non target and at an okay bank (think Top MM low BB/EB). Wanted a hedge fund at a Tiger Cub (yes, I can dream) but I think the short term nature of MMs fit my personality
What does a top MM low BB/EB even mean though? Didn't know there were overlaps.
Either way sounds like you've made the call. Good luck pal.

How did you get this gig? Was it through a HH or networking? Strange since PE on-cycle has been pushed so far back I assumed it would be the same for HF
Knew an analyst that was in the pod and he told me they had a spot. Did the modeling test and interviews and got the offer. Very quick process, maybe 2 weeks? Have another week on the offer
What was the modeling test like and what was your strategy going into it? Do you think they went light on you since you only had 3 months on the job?
