For those of you who have worked in a fundamental L/S hedge fund before, do HFs write up an internal equity research report for most of their investments?

i worked for an eqity l/s fund when i was in college as an intern and they didnt write up anything internally as far as i could tell. The analysts would sometimes create some tables/graphs/etc to show the PMs to try to get them to put on the trades they liked but thats it. Not sure if that's industry standard or not.
