HF/AM Politics and Soft Skills
Was reading the HF analyst skillset thread where another user posted a satirical (yet maybe somewhat true) post that meritocracy doesn't exist in our industry and it's more about "sounding smart". It's no secret that people who work at HFs tend to have traits that are less teamplayer-like (self-driven, autonomous, overly analytical, etc) than our IB/sales counterparts. I've never worked in PE but I assume it would be a blend of both.
There are some good threads surrounding the political game in IB but haven't seen one in the HF/AM context. Any advice for a young analyst looking to maximize their mobility in this industry? Aimed towards fundamental/value shops but I'd imagine it could apply to other strategies as well...
