How can I break into HF from a funds raising group?

I will be starting full time in July and I will be joining a private capital funds raising group that also does secondary transactions. I’m not the ideal candidate for these roles but I know if I get an interview I can kill it. The question however, is how should I go about trying to get an interview? Should I narrow down my list of targeted funds by geography and strategy and then network with people right now before I start ft?

I would think start investing on your own if you can. If you do well and start making money, I would think funds would start coming after you to try to give you money to invest for them. Much success to you
