How did this guy make MD at top HF at 30 y/o?

Elite HS -> ivy -> BB -> MM PE -> MD at top HF by 30 y/o

Insane. He is undoubtedly a bright and talented man, but you have to wonder what his connections did for him in this success. Seems like a similar story to Chase Coleman III - an incredibly bright mind with world-class talent, but how much of his success can be attributed to coming from an extremely wealthy family and receiving personal professional grooming from the world's finest?

Just a bit humbling to see these people in the wild. Just different beasts.

I didn't give a name. The profile I gave could be anyone but I will edit some things out to leave it a bit more anon. Perhaps I'm ignorant, but just how much money can a 24 y/o PE associate make for a firm in 2 years? He obviously wasn't building a book at GS as an analyst so that leaves 24 months to make enough money to make MD? I was being realistic I suppose is the answer to your question.

I did some more research and it looks like Lone Pine was founded by a tiger cub and named after a pine at Dartmouth. So the ties are there.
