How do I choose which type of investing is better for me?

Asking in the context of equities vs, credit investing. I'm a sophomore in college who is extremely interested in investing, but still kind of confused if my true interests lie in equities or credit.

I know this is a stupid question, and there is no one other than me who can do so, but how do I narrow my interests and choose one asset class? Could anyone highlight the major differences between a career in L/S equity vs credit investing (comp, hours, type of work, etc.)?

Thanks

All of the factors you described vary massively across trans and firms. It’s impossible to make generic statements like “equity investors work harder” or “credit investors do more detailed work”

it’s sort of like asking, should I play football or baseball? Depends on a whole lotta factors.

The most important one may be personal risk tolerance

The good thing is that you're young so you have a lot of time to figure out. Imo, focus on getting the best internships you can right now, and you'll be able to specialize later on, when you have a better idea of what you want. in a sense, it's kind of impossible to know what asset class you want to do as a sophomore
