How do traders & analysts use models created by researchers/quants in your workplace.

Hey all,

I'm new here. I have a lot of experience in Excel and am developing some add-ins to help the finance community, specifically how analysts/traders can leverage models produced by researchers/data scientists/quants.

So I was wondering - inside your companies how do your traders use models produced by the research/quantitative team(s). And is Excel the tool for wrangling the input or evaluating the output of the models?

What language/technology is the model normally produced in?

Does a researcher/quant typically put together a python script/model and run it on their local machine for a trader upon request, sending them the results in a CSV file or similar? Or do they hand off their script/model to a trader so they can run it on their own machine? Or is there a centralised location for models?

Thanks,

Thomas
