How helpful is taking a class in Investment Banking for an ER or HF career?

Current undergraduate student with the option to take a class in "Investment Banking" at my study abroad university next year (good b-school in Europe). I'm planning on going to career in equity research or hedge fund l/s fundamental equities research after college but how helpful would taking that class be for my career? Currently no formal IB experience, will be getting equity S&T internship experience this summer. My idea for taking the course is to make sure I understand the capital markets comprehensively to hedge my bets in case a research career doesn't work out; I can go work in banking with less of a barrier if I can't find a research role, which is much more scarce.

Here's a link to the course. The course will prepare me to "

  1. Analyze the needs of a corporate or institutional client and to identify the best financial solution available to tackle them.

  2. Structure a capital market transaction and coordinate the different parties involved in the transaction itself.

  3. Set up the best approach to pitch a potential customer for an advisory mandate.

  4. Demonstrate organizational skills in collecting the relevant information necessary to the deal structuring."
