How many shots at becoming MD
Hi guys,
I’ve worked at 2 investing jobs post MBA (was in a different track before MBA), each one 3-4 years. In each I’ve been promoted once and moved up in firm tier. I’m currently moving again at Principal level - do I basically need to become an MD in my next job, or else I lose my shot / won’t find it easy to find a job?
Thanks
You are either an analyst or a PM.
This is the only distinction that ever matters

do you mean PM? pretty non linear. have seen plenty of PM back to analyst, then career analyst, or analyst after blowing up then back to PM again
