How to go about L/S HF recruitment for a pod from 2 years in IBD as analyst?

Hi Monkeys,

I'm currently entering my third year in IBD and have realized that L/S HF is the route for me, preferably at a BAM, Millennium or P72, pod-type multimanager. I had been focusing on PE recruitment for the last couple years but had been doing it in a tepid manner, since I wasn't really too enthused and I wasn't too motivated (personally, I'm not sold on the PE long term thesis, and my skills, abilities and focus leans more towards the L/S world, anyway, as I finally realized).

How should I go about prepping to making the jump? I am specifically interested in a certain vertical, if that helps, and I have credibly covered it in my current seat, working in M&A. For what it's worth, I am currently working on developed a couple of pitches, just to have a long and a short ready, but don't know how much HHs play into this, if I should be networking, and at how much of a disadvantage I am compared to ER people?

Anything will be helpful, including resources, as I am starting this party from scratch. Thank you very much in advance!

Following, also in similar situation. Would be interested in those with more experience to chime in to see what the modeling test expectations are like and how to go about recruitment. Also, is 2 years considered “a little too late” like with PE, or does it matter less?
