I fucked up and took SS ER over LO fund.. How do I move forward?

Hey guys,

I'm really struggling and not sure who else to turn to.

I just graduated with an MS in Finance in May. I posted a while back about deciding between a LO buyside gig in SFO vs SS ER in NYC. I ended up going with the SS NYC job for the geography/network but realized I don't really care for this sector and heavily regret not taking the LO offer since that is where I wanted to be longer term anyways.

I don't exactly know what to do at this point since I've only been in my role for about a month. I feel like I need a mindset shift but it seems really difficult to adjust from this fuck up. It seems like I threw away a phenomenal seat and will just be wasting the next 2/3 years trying to get back to where I could have been in the first place.

I don't know what I was smoking passing up LO for SS ER but how do I move forward from this? I feel weighed down by regret every single day I come to work.

I can very much relate to this but my choice back then was even more stupid. PM me.

Hey man, I was in a very similar situation and chose a TMT seat in SS ER over less glamorous LO seat. Regretted this my first few months just given the complete mindset change to calling quarters, sales/marketing aspects, less WLB, etc.

I had similar feelings but as others have said just keeping grinding it will get better.

Depends on your long-term goals and the quality of the seats. PM me if you want to chat.
