IB or PE for recruiting into HF
Do banking analysts get the same looks from top HF or is a brand name PE firm necessary for HF recruiting? Incoming analyst trying to decide if I have to do the standard 2+2 or can just recruit to HF direct from banking, would obviously prefer direct but trying to see if it would be limiting in terms of funds I'd be able to recruit at.

Agreed, I'd recommend getting some PE experience, especially if you're interested in the top tier fundamental shops like Viking, Lone Pine, etc.
