Intro

Hi All,

I'm currently a senior engineer and have been working in the semiconductor industry, albeit a very niche segment (RF and Microwave electronics), for over 10 years now. Over the past few years, my interest in finance has turned into an obsession and I've been reading a lot of mathematical finance, financial engineering, capital markets, money markets (Stigum's Money Markets is on my bookshelf) stuff. I'd like to make a career transition at some point and have considered getting a part-time MBA or MS in finance. Is anyone here on the same boat, or has made a similar career transition before? I'm not getting any younger and feel like I'll either have to make the transition within the next few years or remain an engineer for the rest of my career (A mortgage, and kid on the way within the next few years won't make transitions of any kind easy). I understand that I'm privileged in a way and have a stable well-paid career already. However, I don't find my field to be that exciting anymore and I'm itching for a change. I'm eager to know what y'all think.
