Investment professional roles with an endowment/pension fund

Hi there!

I am currently in the market for a new role and would love to connect with anyone who is familiar with investment associate/VP opportunities at an endowment or pension fund.

I am based in NYC and I have several years of finance experience including banking, M&A and wealth management.

Has anyone had any experience working in this area?

I would appreciate any guidance on applying for such opportunities.

Thank you very much!

I work in this field. The job is lower stress than IB or direct buyside, but you still have to put in some work. Would expect 40-60 hours a week as a senior person. Maybe average 45-50. Pensions and other public endowments are usually lower hours but lower comp. People at the top (MDs) tend to stay because you get IB MD money for half the hours, at the MD level. So upward mobility can be tough sometimes.

Agreed and would also note senior team frequently travel.

That is perfect, I love that. How were you able to break into this field? I’ve already tailored my resume to align with these roles and I am pretty much ready to nail an interview at this point.
Thanks again!

Thanks very much for answering, I appreciate it! First time using this app here and was having some issues.
I would love to connect and hear more about your experience. This is what exactly I am aiming for in terms of a new role and it checks all my boxes.

Are you available to chat offline?

I'm also thinking about a move to pension / E&F.  Currently MD at a large HF with a structured credit focus, and not sure quite exactly where and how I'd fit in (private credit?  fixed income?  coinvests?), but am interested in the space primariliy for WLB.  The typical recruiters I get calls from don't seem to have any presence in this space, so curious what the right path to hear about opportunities is.  Thanks.
