IR at a HF a good career over IB? (Rokos)

Could enter into a process with Rokos for Investor Relations graduate level. Would mean that I would have to renege on my GS/MS/JPM IB Analyst programme. Not particularly interested in IR per se, always wanted to be an investor (public or private markets) as I didn't see any client heavy roles suiting my disposition. But if the comp and career progression is good, why the hell not!

Any thoughts on IR within the HF context?

You can always make the jump from IB to IR, can't really say the same for the other way round. If you are happy to pigeonhole yourself, why not.

As a junior, its very unlikely you'll be doing client facing sales roles, mostly reporting. You also have to deal with DP who are the clowns handling recruiting.

Probably way more chill life with decent pay decent hours and decent perks on the job, especially as you get more senior. Depends what you want and how much you care about "maximizing" in your 20s/30s.

Eh - that's not really what I am optimising for. I would have thought IR at a HF would have been a rocketship for your career with comp similar to IB roles as its on the buyside. I don't really want decent at this stage of my life as I can always settle down after IB stint.

unironically think that the investment job is more commoditized and having good LP relationships/marketing is a more important and harder to automate skillset
