Is expediting interview process a bad idea?

I’m currently interviewing for a Summer Analyst position at a small ~$10B AUM HF. HR told me that they would be interviewing people until mid January and I should expect to hear about next steps in late January.

I know I was the first person that they interviewed. It was entirely behavioral and I feel that it went pretty well. However, the position is for a junior/senior and I’m a sophomore.

Would it be a bad idea to leverage another offer to expedite the process? Does anyone have any predictions on what the following rounds will be like?

Do you have another offer in hand? You just completed round 1 and there’s likely AT LEAST 3 rounds. It’s very unlikely that even if you have another offer in hand that they’ll expedite the process for you.

It’s an internship for a $10bn fund. There’s hundreds of people likely just as smart as you applying for the same role that could do just as good of a job.

HR confirmed that they would be willing to expedite the process for me. I’m just wondering if there are cons to this. My primary worry is how best to prepare myself for technicals, as I do have a not to learn.

I’ve been offered the Girls Who Invest Online Intensive Program, but to leverage this better I wouldn’t mention that it’s online.

The cons to expediting the process are that you'll have less time to prepare for the second round (and it seems you don't believe you're currently ready). In the event that they say they won't expedite the process, you may look bad if you decide to stay in the interview process. You don't need to tell them who gave you the offer or for what, but you need to be willing to walk if they turn you down.

Standard prep for technicals is the Breaking Into Wall Street 400 questions. 90% of the questions I've received are right from the guide.
