Is there any way to skip all the technical questions?

I'm interviewing for quant funds and I've done well on all my assessments so far, but frankly there's thousands of others just like me and they're gonna give difficult math and programming questions until there are only a few of us left in the running.

Is there any way to tilt the unfavorable odds in your favor?  Is networking as useful in quant funds?  I know a few guys pretty far up in quant world, maybe I can leverage that.
