Jobs at Big funds with bad press in the news: SAC, Harbinger, Diamondback etc.
Hi all,
I am a bb ibd analyst looking for junior hedge fund roles. Forgetting about strategy or what type of fund I am looking for, how do you think one should evaluate potential opportunities at big / brand name funds recently in the news with some negative press? The ones that come to mind are SAC, Harbinger and Diamondback. Any thoughts on these would be helpful.
Are these places you stay away from now at all costs or has the media overblown it?

I wouldn't think of them as stay-away shops.
If you had an offer from SAC on the table, you're telling me you'd just walk away?
I don't know man, for some reason I feel like somebody's going to go down at SAC.
Good luck walking away from an offer there though.
how bout harbinger? that seems different than the sac / diamondback situation
this is a tricky question. I certainly wouldnt turn down an offer from SAC if you dont have anything else, but the regulatory risk is real and hard to judge. Probably will not be a big deal at all but there is a small risk that it mushrooms quickly...i say this from experience.
