Joining a (credit) fund build-out at junior/mid-level?
Associate level at a large AM here. Spent my career so far supporting senior analysts, I have grown responsibility over time but don’t see a real career path upwards here given the scale and limited turnover. Started poking around at new opportunities and I have been reached out to by two recruiters looking to staff up “build out” funds, both with < $2-3 billion in AUM but part of another investment platform, mostly CLOs or LO but small HF products as well. Any thoughts on these types of opportunities? I would assume while you get significant immediate responsibility relative to your experience, your performance is more important, and comp would be light until the assets really take off. Anyone with experience joining something similar?
