Kerrisdale Capital Management

Kerrisdale stands in the limelight in a lot of the Chinese busts, and seems to be the authority on Chinese small-caps along with Muddy Waters. Anyone heard of them? Their QoQ profits are unreal. I was wondering how they did their research? Thanks.

Yes their Q1 results were ridiculously good (up ~75%?). I don't know much about them outside of their investor letters. I think a lot of people (including myself) are under the impression that essentially every chinese RTO is a scam. Kerrisdale most likely looks at the financials in addition to the SAIC filings and focuses on the most egregious ones.

If you check out Bronte Capital's blog, John walks through a couple chinese frauds that he's discovered. His analysis is very brief and straight forward. He's not on the ground in China either.

I have a buddy that mentioned he saw a job opening post for them as well and he applied but never received a response. I think for recruiting purposes they ask that you submit a trade idea or previous research and then do interviews. I believe they have also tried to move into value while also maintaining their activist agenda. Seems like a bit of a chop shop to me but early returns looked impressive (albeit probably lucky)
