Lateral to ECM Team at Hedge Fund

Hey guys,

I have read some posts on this particular topic; however, additional insight/information would be helpful.

Does anyone have any input on lateraling from IB (M&A) to an ECM syndicate team of a L/S HF--any comment on long-term trajectory and/or even transitioning to the more formal L/S investment role? Nonetheless, the industry focus is very niche and requires technical knowledge.

It does not seem ideal, but again, any comments appreciated.
