Master in Finance for career transition
Hello EveryoneIt's my first time posting, I come from a marketing background and during the global lockdown situation I decided to take the opportunity available for giving the first steps to a long time desired transition to the financial industry. I've taken the best online programs and certifications at my reach with solid institutions highly reputed in the field of financial education.I've completed programs in investment banking, investment management, supply chain finance, blockchain technology business models and Startup Valuations currently I'm completing a program in derivatives and I look forward to pursue an executive hedge fund education program and also a program in algorithmic trading.I consider these programs very solid and able to allow me to develop a valuable insight but in my personal project my preparation for this transition should include a Master in Finance.I've seen various programs and depending on the international situation regarding potential travel restrictions I'm considering to apply to two programs that have caught my attention, both of them based in the most important financial centers in Europe.I consider this the most important decision of my project of professional transition. I would like to know, What should I look for in a Master of Finance as priority? Is there any specific matter that I should pay attention in these programs for ensuring a better performance at the Hedge Fund space?Thank you very much.
I've never seen a HF recruit a candidate with no finance work experience out of an MFin before, not saying it's impossible though- there's just probably not many people who have taken this path before you. The most common routes into a hf you'll find in this forum are from either IB/ER- and you're more likely to get a job in one of those roles from a non finance background.
Since getting actual work experience is a priority here, maybe an MBA from a target with very good on campus recruiting would be a better bet than the MFin. Just a thought
