MF PE Experience Needed for SM HF?
Hi guys, incoming intern at one of GS HC/IND/C&R. My original plan was always GS —> MF PE —> H/S/W —> SM HF seat. I was always told that this is how you become fully ready for a seat like that, but can I go straight after GS to a well known SM HF and skip the in between? Also, if I want to move funds for some reason, how will a lack of MF experience affect me? I’m not too interested in TMT/FIG and wanted exposure to many different types of deals that are rarer in TMT/FIG. How much will that affect my exits/career down the line, and should I try to switch groups after summer, or is the TMT/FIG bias due to self selection and not actual difference in analyst experience quality? Thanks for the help!
