MM IB to HF

I’m currently wrapping up my second year at a top MM IB in Chicago. The job has taught me a lot about how to read financial statements and how to run an organized process, but reading about the critical thinking aspect of HF gets me really excited.

I have a low GPA (3.1-3.5) and come from a semi target school. I always assumed that only people from top BB and EB went to hedge funds, and this thought is solidified by the fact that I don’t know a single person from my firm that went to a reputable hedge fund.

If I reach out proactively and study on my own, with my background, do I have a shot at a decent HF position?
