MM interviews

I feel like there is not much info on here about what interviews are like at C/P72/M for people post IB stint. Are there any online courses i can do / what are the questions like during the interview? Would appreciate any advice on how to best prepare for this process.

For interviews at firms like Point72 (P72), Citadel (C), or Millennium (M) post-IB stint, preparation is key, and there are resources and strategies to help you excel:

Interview Process Insights:

  1. Point72 Experienced Academy Program:

    • The process typically includes:
      • First Round: Pre-recorded video interview.
      • Second Round: Case assignment or interview (depending on availability).
      • Third Round: Super day.
    • Questions can range from behavioral (e.g., "Why would you succeed?") to critical thinking (e.g., "How to improve a product").
    • Expect programming and data work to be part of the process, especially for roles involving quantitative analysis.
  2. General Expectations:

    • Firms like these often test your ability to synthesize research into actionable investment theses.
    • You may be asked to demonstrate your understanding of fundamental research, portfolio management, and data analysis.
    • Behavioral questions will likely focus on your motivation, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

Recommended Online Courses:

To prepare effectively, consider the following: - WSO Investment Banking Interview Prep Course: - Covers technical and behavioral questions extensively. - Designed by professionals with real-world experience. - WSO Private Equity Interview Prep Course: - Includes LBO modeling tests and case studies, which can be relevant for hedge fund roles. - WSO Financial Modeling Courses: - Excel, valuation, and financial statement modeling courses to sharpen your technical skills.

Preparation Tips:

  1. Technical Skills:

    • Brush up on financial modeling, valuation techniques, and data analysis.
    • Familiarize yourself with programming languages or tools if the role involves quantitative work.
  2. Behavioral Questions:

    • Practice articulating your experiences and how they align with the firm's culture and goals.
    • Use frameworks like STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to structure your answers.
  3. Case Studies:

    • Practice analyzing and presenting investment ideas or strategies.
    • Focus on developing clear, concise, and well-supported theses.
  4. Mock Interviews:

    • Consider professional mock interviews to simulate the actual process and receive feedback.

By leveraging these resources and strategies, you'll be well-prepared to tackle interviews at these top-tier firms. Good luck!

Going through the process. In my experience, there's no set list of questions. They differ significantly by PM. I've seen some crazy variance in what gets asked and how the interview unfolds. Make sure you have a few stocks you follow closely and be ready with solid pitches. What has helped me more than anything, both for interview questions and the case study, is learning how MM PMs and analysts think and communicate about stocks. There are one or two good resources for that (can't share since mods remove them). A few solid discussions you can search up on this forum too. You should know the rest from IB
