MM to Big LO
Am a first-year at MM, and have been here for 7 months. Don't think I love this setup and want to be more long-term oriented in my approach to businesses. Have the opportunity to leave to a LO. Anything I should be taking into consideration? Pros/Cons. Would greatly appreciate any insight/advice
Associate or analyst? Big diff at a LO. How did u find this job? If analyst should take it and run
I think that tier of MM and tier of LO are important in this consideration.
Thanks for replying guys. This is for an associate analyst seat. I am at a P72/MLP/Citadel MM and the LO is TRowe/Fidelity/Wellington
Make sure you have a very good understanding for promotion path. Many large LOs don’t promote from associates, you either have to get an MBA and come back or a rarity.
Funny thing that was one of the first that was said to me in the process lol.
You mind if I ask for more detail of why you want to make the switch? I'm an associate at a LO and really want to move to a big 4 MM. As you can kind of tell already from the comments above, LO's don't base much on performance (which is counterintuitive for an investment firm), and more so on tenure and CFA/MBA degree. What was off-putting about the MM other than the short-termism of the trading style?
