AQR is Greenwich based
CT is still a hub. A lot of big and well know funds based there.
Ehh greenwich definitely does not count for being "outside a traditional hub". It's basically NYC since it is only a 50 min express train from grand central.
But yea, just a handful of under the radar names like Lone Pine and Viking have offices there...
those are two of the most well known funds..

Canyon moved a lot of operations/IP to Dallas from LA
Pretty sure if you look at linkedin most IPs at Maverick are in NYC. Most Dallas folks look like back office.
