Moving from SDA in Healthcare to a fundamental seat in a Biotech team

Question: What should be the path to shift to a fundamental associate seat in a Biotech team coming from a math / data / financial engineering background

Background: I have been working as an Sector Data Analyst (SDA)  in one of the good HFs with strong Biotech teams for 1+ years. The teams are tiny and I end up being a shared resource giving out data oriented predictions for commercial stage drugs. They definitely love me, seems like the way we are looking at data is correct and the contributions are well appreciated by the PMs which makes me wonder about the longer term career plan (to move to fundamental possibly).

The biggest red flag for me right now is how everyone is talking about Clinical trials and I barely understand the abbreviations on the presentations even after using chatgpt for translation.

FWIW, i am ready to give PCATs / etc if this is the path I decide
