MS in Mathematics in Finance to HF
Does anyone know if a masters in a top program in mathematics in finance such as NYU, Columbia or Chicago would be a good transition to a hedge fund? And more specifically could such a masters give the opportunity to eventually own a hedge fund or be a senior person in a hedge fund if the above question is yes?
Owning a hedge fund is entirely up to you. As for whether or not these programs will open doors to hedge funds for you, that depends on the type of hedge fund. Some of the more quantitative funds will certainly be amenable to considering you. Some of the more fundamental long-short type places probably won't.
Just as a data point, the former head of volatility trading at Citadel is a graduate of the Chicago program you mentioned.
honestly, i think the questions r just dumb
