Newb MM HF Question

Pretty far long in the process with a MM HF for a senior analyst role. Not from the MM or HF world so would appreciate any insight for why I’d have a meeting set up with business development? Appreciate advice from the “experts” but informed speculation welcomed too!

My experience with a few biz dev teams has generally been a mix of fit, investment philosophy, process and COVERAGE UNIVERSE. They just want to know which sub sector to pin me down into so they can hit me up if there’s a need there.

The biz dev interview I had after a few rounds into a process was much more fit, check the box since the PM/hiring manager was already on board.

Given your description, I’d guess it’s more of the latter. FYI: my experience was for equities as a mid-level analyst.
