On Deck Investing - Learning Community

Hi everyone –

I’m an old-timer on WSO (undergrad class of 2011) who started his career in IBD + HF.

If anyone is interested in learning the fundamentals of investing – check-out this course that I’m helping co-teach via On Deck Investing. https://www.beondeck.com/investing

Our focus is on the public markets (equities + crypto), but the toolkits and mental models can be applied to any type of investing (private equity, angel investing, and other).

I know a lot of folks here are looking to recruit for a FT buyside job (I was one of you back in the day!). So to set expectations, this course is less focused on recruiting + model building, and more so the fundamentals of decision-making, managing emotions, etc.

You do get to interact with speakers / fund managers in an small-group setting. And overall, this is the type of course that will help one evolve from an excel monkey into a more thoughtful investor.

It’s a remote, 7-week program starting in October. Much of the value from the program can be derived asynchronously – which is friendly for those of you in IBD (I remember those days!)

Anyways, the deadline for applications is in a few weeks.

Spots are limited but if you mention this thread, I can make sure that your app gets a special look. More info about me here: https://yishizuo.com/about and please feel free to comment in this thread or email me if you have any questions.

P.S. We have a paid partnership with WSO so please keep an eye out in your inbox for mention of On Deck Investing in an upcoming newsletter!

P.P.S. Here is a thread I wrote re: buyside recruiting 8.5 years ago that may still be helpful today. https://www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/7-practical-buyside-recruiting-tips-for-ibd-analysts

Best,
-Yishi
