Opportunistic credit HF guys - what would impress you?

Hi everyone:

I came from a non-traditional background and would love to hear your views. After undergrad, instead of banking, I started out doing macro research/investing, then credit and equities investing. They are all at Tier 1.5 ish funds.

I have the chance to speak with someone at a very good opportunistic credit fund to explore career opportunities there, but I know I don't have the gold-plated resume (top banking groups, etc) that many of the other candidates will have. So I was wondering, if you happen to work in opportunistic credit HF, what can a candidate with my background do and say during the interview to make you think of me as a serious candidate please?

Thanks!
