Quant ALM risk management career opportunities?
I've been including quant ALM positions in my job search to expand my job prospects (currently in school). From what I can tell, there's a lot of model building and validation. Ultimately, I enjoy research so hope to end up in QR somewhere, but I figured this might be a solid way to work up to it if I must. Is this a possibility? What are the long-term career prospects for quant RMs?
Also, what do typical ALM quants make? I've seen anywhere from sub-100k to 160k.
Just some info, I'm a double masters in CS/math with a business undergrad.
