Question regarding possible major.

Hi, im in my late twenties and i barely started attending UCLA. My current major is Math/Econ but i was curious as to whether or not i should do Statistics instead. I figure i can learn company valuations through the math/econ program, that might help. but stats will help me to better predict trends...?

I eventually want to go into business for myself by starting some type of hedge fund. Im curious as to which major would better prepare me for my eventual future?

I realize i sound like an idiot for even thinking of starting my own hedge fund considering i have no experience, but this field excites me(and not only because of the money, seriously). I figure im too old to get into banking, so might as well start my own fund somehow.

It's been discussed million times that majors don't matter. Most undergraduate courses are a joke and will give you neither deep knowledge of the subject nor prepare you for a job in any field of finance.

At your age your only path is self-education + networking.

I don't think it's right to say that about math/statistics majors.
