Rejection despite Good Interview

Just had an SA interview with a good shop (L/S or L/O, $10B+ AUM). Really enjoyed the conversations I had with my interviewers and also had a great convo with my HR Manager. I thought that I had  great responses to questions and honestly I really enjoyed the interview. Sent thank-you notes after to my interviewers, who both responded.

Then got clipped.

Maybe I just need to cope, but how can I do my best to stay in processes for longer and make better impressions? It seemed like everything went well so I don't know why I didn't get the next round...

just forget about it and move on, sometimes there are factors out of your control going on behind the scenes. just go into interviews without any expectations, from experience i've found how confident i feel about my performance post-interview and actual outcomes to be somewhat inversely correlated lol

Know the feeling -- it's the worst and had it happen at least once to me before I got my first job. In one of my cases, I just emailed the interviewer who seemed the most impressed with me and asked for feedback. We set up a call and he ended up offering to refer me to some of his clients at HFs. This was for sales & trading so could be a little different culturally, but I think you can get some clarity / find out where you didn't meet the bar if at all. May even open up some other doors.
